Worshipful, Reverent, God-centered, Biblically Based Music Which Is Appropriate for Those Who Have Been Purchased by Christ's Blood

God has wonderfully delivered us from this present evil world (age), according to the will of God and our Father (Gal. 1:4). We are bought with a price and we are no longer our own (1 Cor. 6:19-20). We are bought by blood and bound by love. We are separated unto the gospel of God (Rom. 1:1) and we are separated unto the God of the gospel. Having brought us out of a horrible pit and out of the miry clay, He has put a new song in our mouths (Psalm 40:1-3).

The new song, by its very nature, must be very different from the old song. The world knows nothing of the new song. They know nothing of deliverance from sin and peace with God. They know nothing of a precious Saviour ("unto you, therefore, who believe He is precious"–1 Peter 2:7). To them the cross is foolishness (1 Cor. 1:18; 2:14). The only songs they know are self-centered and pleasing to the flesh. Those that are in the flesh cannot please God (Rom. 8:7-8), neither can their songs.

The world knows nothing of the new song. They know nothing of deliverance from sin and peace with God.

When I (George Zeller) first came to the Middletown Bible Church in 1969, it was my first exposure to a Bible believing church, and one of the first things I noticed was that the music was different. The pianist was not accomplished. She did the best she could and made her fair share of mistakes. But the people sang from their hearts as if they really meant what they were singing. They were not just going through a religious ritual. They were redeemed and they loved to proclaim it. I had been to many churches where the music was quite polished and professional, but it lacked the sounds coming from souls who knew that they had been set free. The difference was quite evident.

An actor was asked to recite the 23rd Psalm. His recitation was fluent and exceptional, with perfect intonation and diction—a flawless performance. A godly pastor was asked to recite the same Psalm. It was done from the heart and the difference was profound. One man knew the Psalm but the other man knew the Shepherd. So also, those who truly know the Shepherd are going to sing much differently than those who know Him not.

How can someone sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs if he is unsaved, unspiritual, having not the Spirit? On the other hand, how can a spiritual believer delight in the "song of fools" (Eccl. 7:5)? The two are incompatible. The new song belongs with a new creature in Christ. The old songs belong to our past life to which we have died ("old things have passed away"). "For ye died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God....Christ who is your LIFE" (Col. 3:3-4).

There is a massive movement in our day to bring the music of fools (CCM) into the house of God, including the jungle pulsing drumbeat and everything else connected with such sensual and fleshly musical styles. Worshipful, spiritual, reverent, God-centered, Biblically based music is becoming more and more rare in the churches. Instead of honoring the Rock of Ages, we have entered the age of Christian rock.

Peter Masters, Pastor of the Metropolitan Temple in London (where Charles Spurgeon used to preach), has shared similar concerns:

The 'culture' of the house of God must be joyful, yet at the same time honour the deeply reverent ethos of biblical worship.

A ruling principle in Christian worship for generations was the need to distinguish between sacred and secular, or between sacred and profane, or spiritual and worldly. Until recently, evangelicals believed that the church and the world represented opposing standards and lifestyles and tastes, and so most of the world's popular jollities were treated with great suspicion. Spiritual worship was never to be confused or mixed with, or even tainted by, the debased end of the popular entertainment spectrum, because one belonged to the realm of sacred things, and the other to the realm of secular and profane things. All were convinced that Almighty God would be offended, and realized that lost sinners could not be called out of the world by a church that had adopted its lifestyle and entertainment values.

It was believed by virtually every serious Christian that to employ in worship something that was obviously associated with (or had arisen from) an alternative culture of free sex, godlessness, drugs, and emotional orgies would be worse than inappropriate - it would be sinful.

They therefore disclaimed the help of a fleshly world and its idiom, relying instead on the power of God, and so they had spiritual power in their worship, not the carnal 'power' of entertainment-emotionalism.

Christians of the recent past saw that two different worlds and kingdoms stood in stark contrast to one another, the churches being the upholders of God's sovereignty, and holiness. They represented the Holy and the High. As if to test the convictions of believers, the hippie and worldly Christian movements came into being, and initially, most conservative evangelicals were appalled. Why are they not all still appalled? Quickly, the new trends were picked up by leaders of youth groups, shallow churches, and certain international evangelists who had come to put earthly appeal before the standards of the Lord.

Called Out of the World

The father of the faithful, Abraham, was called to come out of the culture of a pagan world, and live life in an altogether distinctive way for the Lord. The children of Israel in the wilderness were severely judged for wanting to go back to the foodstuffs of Egypt, even though these were not intrinsically sinful, because God had provided something special for them. The Lord was teaching them to be a distinctive people. Under the law of Moses the people were taught in many ways to distinguish between holy and unholy, and between clean and unclean, even if it meant the forbidding of things not inherently evil, in order to drill into them the law of distinction and separation. New Testament Christians have traditionally believed (as Paul said) that these 'things were written for our learning'.

Whether we consult the Old or the New Testament, purity and separation are ever to be maintained in worship. There must be a marked distinction between sacred and secular. The New Testament repeatedly commands us to hold ourselves apart from worldly activities which exalt or enshrine sinful acts and lifestyles. This is a tale of two kingdoms. 'Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world,' says John. Wherever this world's culture distinctively serves and represents fleshly living, it is to be rejected by believers. Historic, mainstream evangelicalism has always taken this very seriously. Today, pastors and leaders of inferior spiritual substance are wrecking the worship of these churches, and selling them into a progressive worldliness from which they will probably never recover. This is the tragedy of the hour. What is the point of preaching or contending for sound doctrine, if the church's practice has submitted to the world and become offensive to God? What is the point of correcting the sails if the boat is irreparably holed beneath the water line?

Ministers may continue to preach sound doctrine in the midst of carnal noise - but they will only be serving Satan's purpose by calming and reassuring the faithful, while corruption gains total control. Many churches which have gone down this road in recent years have already become markedly shallow, frothy and indifferent to biblical standards. They have turned their Father's house into a den of entertainers. The writer has many testimonies to this effect, and has seen it in some very large churches in the USA. There, numbers have sometimes increased, but faithfulness and spirituality have plummeted. This is the future for those who defect to the contemporary worship scene. To go this way, therefore, is to be guilty both of great foolishness, and spiritual disobedience. We must stand clear - not on the grounds of taste, but on the grounds of sin.

When it comes to music standards and anything else, may we not allow the world to squeeze us into its ungodly mold (Rom. 12:2). May we delight in singing the song of a soul set free!

The problem with using rock music in the church is twofold: 1) What you win them with, you win them to; 2) What you win them with, you'll have to keep them with.

Lucifer - The Pied Piper of the Godless Music Industry

Wherever one goes today, multitudes of teens and young children can be seen avidly imitating and idolizing the vast array of musicians and their decadent, chic culture and lifestyle. Television, satellite radio, iPods and the internet have revolutionized and intensified the accessibility to this hypnotic, godless spirit (2 Cor. 4:3-4; Eph. 2:1-2). America’s youth in particular are being intoxicated and brainwashed at an exponential rate with Lucifer’s subtle and godless message of “Do as Thou wilt.”

What is even more tragic is the majority of “out to lunch” parents who are totally oblivious and gullible about the damnable influence this culture and its demonic propaganda has over their children. These are messages of godlessness, anti-authority, licentiousness and promiscuity, immorality, vice, drug use, suicide, anarchy, violence, rape, “godless good,” delusional aspirations and fallen human hopes apart from the Creator in righteousness. These OTL parents are just as delusional and are products themselves of the same brainwashing and narcissistic tactics used by the Devil in the decadent and subjective 60’s music culture.

This narcissistic and emotionally driven mindset, feel-good philosophy, relativistic and non-judgmental ideology of modern American parenthood has spawned a far greater reprobate generation than themselves. This is why we are now experiencing on a global scale an exponential increase in godlessness and lawlessness that brings with it horrendous consequences (Gal. 6:7-9).

From Rap to Heavy Metal, New Country to R&B, Pop to Grunge - even to the subtle teeny-bopper bubble gum music of today’s godless, pluralistic Disney channel – all genres have one common denominator. That denominator is to conform and fashion the youth of today’s America into godless reprobates wholly given over to their base desires and narcissistic ambitions. Lucifer, the ex-chief musician of Almighty God’s throne room (Ezek. 28:13-19), knows very well what music can do to the fallen nature of humanity left unchecked and unbalanced in light of natural law and the eternal righteous absolutes of Almighty God (Romans 1:18-32; 3:9-23). The hypnotizing lyrics mixed with various blends of percussion, guitar, piano and rhythm brings its listeners into an altered state of consciousness and prepares them to receive Lucifer’s subtle message of “Do as thou wilt.”

Although music itself is amoral, i.e., there is nothing truly “wrong” with it in and by itself, when it comes to how one uses it, that is another story altogether.

The Copy Cats and Monkeys Seers

The youth of any particular generation love to imitate and follow these godless performers in their different eras; they are cleverly marketed and sold as good to the youth of this world. From Benny Goodman and Frank Sinatra to Elvis and the Beatles, from Led Zeppelin to Ozzy Osbourne, Pearl Jam to Marylyn Manson, etc., these have all been used to sell a bill of demonic goods for patterns to live out reprobate (ungodly) lives here in time. There is truly "nothing new under the sun" (i.e., in terms of human nature and imagination, not in a “technological” sense). Whatever your flavor, Lucifer has it for you. This tactic is as old as that used in the Garden of Eden, i.e., to challenge God's word and authority. Countless generations have followed after these damnable hypnotic trends, and the majority has allowed themselves to be led astray. There is something about music that temporarily satisfies the soul (like a drug). Humanity uses music to soothe and nourish their famished souls which were created for Almighty God and His ETERNAL Person. Those who reject their Creator’s mercy and saving grace (Romans 7:24-25) seek to fill this void with idolatry, material possessions, sex, drugs and, yes….Rock-n-roll music culture. It is a way to express themselves and to “lash out” at this fallen world which has them caught in their web.

The Game Plan - Lucifer's Successful War

The admiration and idolatrous worship of these demonic lyric masters (musicians) is all part and parcel of the Evil Master’s master plan, i.e., to deceive, mislead, derail and detour as many souls as possible from coming to a saving relationship of Almighty God in truth and righteousness (John 8:44; 2 Thess. 2:9-12). Because of his primeval rebellion against God, Lucifer hates Adam’s race created in the image of God. From Adam’s race came the woman from whom was born the Savior of the world (Gen. 3:14-15; Gal. 3:16; 4:4; Rev. 12:1-4), who is also the Divine Judge of Lucifer and his rebellious minions - both angelic and human (Matt. 25:41; Rev. 20:10-15).

Lucifer’s rebellion is an insane and delusional attempt to overthrow Almighty God’s Eternal Sovereignty of righteousness for replacement with His own fallen rule and godless tyranny.

Does this revelation and evaluation seem far-fetched and “over the top”? Does this sound like “fringe religion” and the height of kookiness? Well then, my friend, you are blinded to the realities of the Great Spiritual War now raging for the heart, souls and minds of mankind (2 Cor. 4:3-4). This spiritual warfare is thousands of years old, though it will soon be coming to a climax at the Battle of Armageddon. Lucifer’s rebellion is an insane and delusional attempt to overthrow Almighty God’s Eternal Sovereignty of righteousness for replacement with His own fallen rule and godless tyranny (Isa. 14:12-17; Ezek. 28:13-19; Rev. 12; 20:7-10). He is a hater of all that is life and light (reality), and the lover of all that is death and darkness (John 8:43-44).

Lucifer knows that the vast spectrum of flavors in his hypnotic "goodie bag” crosses all languages, cultures, borders, creeds, and ethnicities. These sensual delights so offered are his attempt to overcome the hurdle put in place by Almighty God at the Tower of Babel to slow down man’s unholy unity AGAINST God and His Righteous absolutes. Music is the universal language of this world and Lucifer, the Supreme Angel of Music, is a master of this. (Note the ending lyrics of this very famous pop song sung by Barry Manilow, “I Write The Songs,” where the singer exclaims, “I AM MUSIC!”) This insane genius knows the game and how to best exploit the weaknesses of his victims (John 8:44).

The music industry has single-handedly ravished and re-formatted the condition of our culture and the substance of our society to a godless and decadent wasteland.

No single campaign strategy has been more successful in Satan’s war to corrupt mankind than that found in the music industry. Just take a long, hard look at the history of the music industry in America since the Roaring Twenties. Its progression has been exponential, so also has been its wake of devastation on the family, morals, society and our Judean/ Christian heritage.

As one whom Almighty God has saved out of this insane, decadent culture and lifestyle, I (DJP I.F.) personally know all too well that it is a machine of godlessness, excess and ruin. Oh, how I now sing praise to Almighty God for His grace and mercy to this lost transgressor who was saved from the ETERNAL ruin of his delusion and hypnotic stupor! As the days in which we live get more and more godless, decadent and vile, thank God that He has provided a solution - a Savior - for those who are walking the course of this world in darkness and unbelief (Eph. 2:1-12).

My whole life prior to 1992 (Eph. 2:2-3) was given solely over wholly to the music industry. From playing the music to that of absolutely following all aspects of the industry and culture as some of you who knew me well know. As Almighty God began to get a hold of me and started to redirect me by His Word, I then began to see the evils and vices of the whole music culture and life style.

I remember saying to myself - the last day that I played in the last phase of "Silent Desire" (1986-1992) - I thought to myself... What are you doing? Listen to the lyrics. What are they saying? Look what the consequences of this life style and what it is doing to you and those who you care greatly about. I knew I had to leave it and I knew that Almighty God could not be honored in any way or blessed by it in my life by practicing such godlessness.

Up to this point in my young age I had lived a full life. After three years of challenging and wrestling with Almighty God and His Word; and trying to justify everything in my manner of living, at the age of twenty four I finally surrendered to Him and began to follow Christ as my Lord and Savior - who is the Savior of the whole World (John 3:16.17). My final conclusion at that time was Lord you were absolutely right! I need You and my actions were horrifically wrong. His grace and mercy showed and taught me how wrong I was and that God's long suffering to me lead me to repentance and eternal life (2 Peter 3:9)! That was in the fall of October of 1992. Since then I have been truly blessed by Almighty God. He has blessed me and has filled my soul with His Wonderful Eternal Person and with His plan and future for my life. The music and all of its party lifestyle could never fill the eternal void that possessed me. Only Almighty God can satisfy the famished soul of man (John 6).

In the end, I knew I would have to give an account to Almighty God and I would be doomed if I continued in my rebellion and sin against Him (Heb 9:27).

My final conclusion at that time was Lord you were absolutely right! I need You and my actions were horrifically wrong.

Before you label me a square or a nut, I would like to challenge you to objectively watch this brief series of documentaries on the music industry and its culture. On this web site you will see for yourself that there is something more sinister behind the whole godless music industry and life style then meets the eye (Eph 6:12). In the end, ask yourself this simple question. Is this what you want to truly serve?

Be brave, be objective and have courage to face the realities at hand. Then you will see what it is all about.

The Lord Jesus stated: You shall know the truth and the truth will set you free (John 8:32).

And if the Son therefore shall make you free, you shall be free indeed (John 8:36).

Put your faith and trust in Almighty God! He alone can satisfy. He alone can deliver! Put your trust in Him today. You will never be the same!

Kim Kardashian one of Hollywood's most self centered and narcissistic spotlight hogs has just filed for divorce 72 days after her 10,000,000 dollar wedding! LOL!!! One has to just laugh their head off at the mindset of these godless and delusional pampered princesses of "It's all about Me- ville." This lawless, pampered and spoiled brat is absolutely oblivious to what marriage pictures and truly represents (Eph. 5: 28-33). Kardashian has made a TOTAL mockery of Almighty God's Divine institution making extremely light of it and violating her vows in which she took before men and Almighty God her Creator. No doubt Kardashian has excused herself and has rationalized away her base actions in light of her own self-centered personal agenda (2 Tim. 3:1-5). This increasing narcissistic mindset is an ever growing trend and sign of the times that the Day of the Lord is ever at hand! This cheap and poor comprehension of marriage is par for Hollywood and their godless and lawless inhabitants. Sadly, these reprobates are Satan's trend setters for the ever growing godless and lawless population of America. Almighty God evaluates one's personal beauty based on His RIGHTEOUSNESS - which is only found in Jesus Christ - and NOT in one's temporal genetic appearance (Eccl. 1, Isa. 40:6, Rom. 10:2-4, Gal. 5:19-21, 1 Peter 1:24, 1 John 2:17). Sadly this is a REALITY that those in Hollywood totally are oblivious to. No doubt Kim will play the victim and milk all the publicity that she can get to feed her vanity, for sadly in the end ... it is all about her (Eccl).

It is well know that in the Western cultures of Europe and now in America, that the God ordained institution of marriage - which was ordained before the world began (Eph. 5:28-33) - has been rapidly falling by the way side. This out right rejection of the institution of marriage is found mostly in liberal/progressive circles and is a progressive liberal trait. What is most alarming is that these "western" countries - which once embraced the Judeo/Christian moral absolutes of the Bible - are now secular wastelands reaping the whirlwind of their anti moral absolute rebellion. As history has always testified, when a nation, people or culture turn their back on the Word of God, the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God, the void is always filled with a progressive secular socialism, an apostate form of Christianity, horrific war and immoral decadence (Rom. 1:18-32). These godless fruits and traits always will lead to tyranny and the oppression of the masses (Psalm 14:1-3). Just look at what the most violent century - the 20th century - has showed us!

The Bible speaks of these Last Days and testifies to what the social conditions will be at this time among those who profess Christ and have a "form" of godliness. (Romans 10:2-4, 1 Tim. 3:1-7,2 Tim. 4:1-3, Jude, 1:10, Rev. 3:14-22). At this time, a secular progressive movement - initiated by the super fallen intelligences of fallen angels (i.e., demons ) will begin to dominate and influence the entire world preparing the world for Lucifer's lawless minion and the global worship of himself and his lawless super -ultra fascist world leader (2 Thess. 2:3-12, Rev.13). One of the signs of these last days will be the demonically led anti -marriage movement along with other apostate teachings. As we see this ever growing lawless moment sweeping the world, especially in the West. We today can see the very shadows of the things which are about to come. This lawless spirit dominates the West's progressive Left, but what is most alarming is how it is sweeping into moderate and some conservative circles as well. When these groups begin to embrace this rebellious movement against the very bedrock of the world's most sacred institution how long will it truly be until we are face to face with the Day of the Lord!

One of the signs of these last days will be the demonically led anti -marriage movement along with other apostate teachings.

Liberalism - for the most part - rejects out right the Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God. The root and source of this rejection - of these crucial moral laws and realities - is their subjective hatred towards the Creator of the heavens and earth (Romans 1:18-32). This base ideology is expressed and manifested in their disdain and hostility towards the American blue print drawn up by our Founding Fathers, which was based on the Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God.

Liberal /progressives reject these core moral absolutes and practice a sensual subjectivism that sees God ordained absolutes through the prism of relativism and pluralism. They possess a fear of moral absolutes and believe that true freedom is to be free from any Divine instituted moral absolutes or laws that suppress their unbridled passions (Psalm 14:1-3, Isa 24:5, 2 Tim 3:1-7, Jude 1:10). They are lawless in their practices and hostile to any that impose a Divine reality or the adherence of moral absolutes (Rom. 1:28-32).

The Lord Jesus stated that, you shall know men by their fruits and by their actions (Matt. 7:16-20). It is simple enough to see that where ever the “virtues” of secular liberalism are promoted and exercised that poverty, disease, anarchy, crime, social chaos, the break down of the family unit, violence and horrific social devastation are to be found.

When one rejects and abandons the core moral building blocks for a health society for a godless delusion of lawlessness, expect to find social devastation and chaos (2 Tim. 3:1-7).

What is most alarming is how the very people that impose their delusional solutions and remedies upon the American people seek also to fix these ills of society by applying the very same logic that got us to this social catastrophic point in the first place. By applying these lawless solutions, these excel the rate of today’s social ills at exponential rates. Today’s American social culture is at the extreme breaking point. The evidence is every where, yet the majority of American’s live in the apathetic delusion that all is well and that we will remain and prosper as times past. Wake up America, the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand!
