It is sad to watch the "church" chase after political salvation. The Gospel is not political. You cannot change a nation unless you change the people. You cannot change the people unless they receive the Gospel. Our system of self-government demands our participation, but not our faith. Preach the Word and voice your opinion.

the majority of mainline Evangelicals think that all they have to do is get out the "conservative vote" in 2010 to turn things back to a "Christian" Nation.

The sad fact is, our country has been stumbling in this direction for far longer than Mr Obama has been in office and it is because Evangelicals put their faith in pseudo-conservative politicians instead of God!

Yes the Bible does tell us of these times coming upon the earth. & I think we would all like to believe that if the Christians in this nation will do as God's Word says in 2 Chronicles 7:14:

humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

Then this nation will rise again.

However I think the Christians of today are like the Jews in the time just before Jesus birth; looking for a messiah to be a great charasmatic military leader, rally the people to overthrow the "Romans" and re-establish a Theocracy based on what the people want not what God desires!
