God So LOVED you that you would not have to die in your sins and spend eternity in Hell. That is why He sent His Son. When you see things in that light then you will fully comprehend the wondrous LOVE of Almighty God. In the end Almighty God will hold each one to His Holy righteous standard and judge sin.

Take the 10 commandment challenge then you will see your desperate need for the Savior in Spirit and Truth!

May God bless you!

DJP I.F.

http://www.theignorantfishermen.com/2010/02/10-commandment-challenge-are-you-good.htmlThe Ignorant Fishermenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05673973129940277983noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-734817143510679440.post-83746998489949655372010-02-02T23:48:31.583-05:002010-02-02T23:48:31.583-05:00It is quite understandable that you find the conce...It is quite understandable that you find the concept of Hell (i.e., the eternal "Lake of Fire") unconscionable and incompatible with a kind and loving God. We believe this is probably the ONE Biblical doctrine that unbelievers - and even some professing Christians - struggle with the most. Your claim that Jesus never spoke of a literal place called Hell, or that the passages about Hell which were attributed to Jesus were added later to "adulterated" texts, is a very "slippery slope" indeed. A careful reading of the account of the rich man and Lazarus described in Luke 16:19-31 (definitely not a parable as Lazarus, Abraham, and Moses are mentioned by name) reveals Hell as a fixed, eternal place of torment. It is here revealed that the key to obtaining repentance and salvation is hearing (i.e., believing) what Moses (the Pentateuch) and the Prophets (the rest of the Old Testament) says literally. The Old Testament is replete with references to hell, and Jesus always spoke with supreme regard to the sacred scriptures. It is life-changing, Rick, to believe and know that God is love (1 John 4:7-10), and that He never intended that ANY man, woman, boy or girl created in God's image should have to suffer eternally. Matthew 25:41 tells us that "everlasting fire (Hell) [is] prepared for the devil and his angels." People end up in Hell (along with the devil and demons) for committing one sin only - that is, for not believing and receiving the provision that God made for them in sending His Son, Jesus Christ, to be their Savior (John 3:16). Don't let Satan deceive you, Rick! Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ today and be saved into God's Eternal Heaven (Acts 16:31)!

BEL I.F.The Ignorant Fishermenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05673973129940277983noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-734817143510679440.post-7329559010763690102010-02-01T17:06:27.675-05:002010-02-01T17:06:27.675-05:00OK, well, I have a reality to add.
Seems like thi...OK, well, I have a reality to add.

Seems like this one got left out as you were talking about Hell and how God intends to torture billions of people--What Would Jesus Do?

You see, the problem with this whole scenario of God being, allegedly, poised to inflict so much suffering on so many for so long...

is that it COMPLETELY conflicts with everything Jesus actually taught about God's nature!

I've actually written an entire book on this topic--Hell? No! Why You Can Be Certain There's No Such Place As Hell, (for anyone interested, you can get a free ecopy of Did Jesus Believe in Hell?, one of the most compelling chapters in my book at www.thereisnohell.com), but if I may, let me share one of the many points I make in it to explain why.

If one is willing to look, there's substantial evidence contained in the gospels to show that Jesus opposed the idea of Hell. For example, in Luke 9:51-56, is a story about his great disappointment with his disciples when they actually suggested imploring God to rain FIRE on a village just because they had rejected him. His response: "You don't know what spirit is inspiring this kind of talk!" Presumably, it was NOT the Holy Spirit. He went on, trying to explain how he had come to save, heal and relieve suffering, not be the CAUSE of it.

So it only stands to reason that this same Jesus, who was appalled at the very idea of burning a few people, for a few horrific minutes until they were dead, could never, ever burn BILLIONS of people for an ETERNITY!

True, there are a few statements that made their way into the copies of copies of copies of the gospel texts which place “Hell” on Jesus’ lips, but these adulterations came along many decades after his death, most likely due to the Church filling up with Greeks who imported their belief in Hades with them when they converted.

Bear in mind that the historical Protestant doctrine of the inspiration of the Scriptures applies only to the original autographs, not the copies. But sadly, the interpolations that made their way into those copies have provided a convenient excuse for a lot of people to get around following Jesus’ real message.Rick Lannoyehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15771612313060169125noreply@blogger.com
